Compared with traditional CNC programming technology, the programming difficulties of turning-milling compound machining are mainly reflected in the following aspects.

(1) There are many kinds of handicrafts. For craftsmen, not only must master the programming methods of various machining methods (such as CNC turning, multi-axis milling and drilling), but also must accurately define the relationship between the process and the way of advance and retreat. Therefore, when performing CNC programming, it is necessary to have an intuitive understanding of the current machining model and the distribution of machining allowances in order to facilitate the next machining programming and advance and retreat settings. tool.

(2) The serial and parallel sequence in the programming process must be determined strictly according to the process path. The current general-purpose CAM software is not enough to fully support the programming of these advanced functions, such as online measurement, sawing, automatic feed, tailstock control, etc. Therefore, programs compiled with general-purpose CAM software still require a lot of resources. (4) Integration of processing procedures. At present, NC programs compiled by general-purpose CAM software are independent of each other. In order to achieve complex automation and complete machining (such as turning and milling), these independent machining programs must be integrated and integrated. This integration must be guided by the process route of the part. First, determine which programs are parallel, and then determine the processing sequence of different processing methods, and give accurate tool replacement, card replacement, benchmark conversion, and advance and retreat instructions to wait.

It can be seen that it is very difficult to write CNC programs for turning-milling combined processing, and the current general-purpose CAM software for turning-milling combined processing still has many defects and deficiencies. In order to make up for these shortcomings, it is a more realistic solution to develop a special programming system suitable for product technology and compound processing equipment based on the existing general CAD/CAM software.
