Feiteng started the exploration of domestic CPUs in 1999, and today, the technological evolution has been close to 20 years. In 1999, Feiteng’s first processor was successfully developed; in 2000, Feiteng launched the first embedded CPU; in 2005, Feiteng’s first 32-bit general-purpose CPU and the first 64-bit general-purpose CPU came out; in 2006, Feiteng Launched the first heterogeneous multi-core accelerator chip; in 2009, the first 8-core high-performance general-purpose CPU came out; in 2012, the first 16-core high-performance general-purpose CPU came out; in 2014, the FA-1500A came out, which started Feiteng A new chapter in CPU development; in 2016, the first 64-core processor chip FA-2000 and dual-core CPU FT-2000A/2 came out; in 2017, the second-generation 64-core processor chip Ft-2000+/64 came out; 2019 , a new generation of Feiteng desktop processor chip FT-2000/4 came out.
After 20 years of development, Feiteng has mastered the core technologies of the whole system design level from system architecture, micro-architecture, logic design, physical design, layout, packaging design and so on. Moreover, through 20 years of hard work, the product process designed by Feiteng has achieved a breakthrough from 0.35 to 14 nanometers to 7 nanometers, and the scale of transistors has also increased from tens of thousands to tens of billions, forming a single product from the original to high-performance servers. , high-performance desktop and high-end embedded multiple product lineages.
Feiteng CPU also has a bright spot, that is, safe and controllable technology. Feiteng CPU not only has unique innovations in built-in security, but also supports national secret algorithms to realize trusted computing from the CPU level. Build an active immune dual-system operation architecture, which can identify and resist viruses, Trojan horses, and attacks by exploiting vulnerabilities, effectively escorting information security.
Adhering to the independent innovation of core technologies and the open combination of industrial ecology, Feiteng uses two legs to walk out of the wonderful domestic CPU.
2014 was a turning point in Feiteng’s 20-year exploration. From 1999 to 2012, Feiteng’s first two generations of CPU products mainly relied on the SPARC architecture and achieved large-scale applications in key areas. During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, with the support of the national “Nuclear High-Base” major scientific and technological project, the third-generation Feiteng CPU represented by FT-1000/FT-1000A and FT1500 will be used in commercial applications. But at that time, the software and hardware ecosystem based on the SPARC architecture was almost zero, both internationally and domestically. This weak ecosystem could not support the large-scale commercial use of Feiteng CPU, and the development was once deadlocked.
The turning point came in 2012. In this year, ARM officially launched the first 64-bit instruction set processor architecture ARMv8, hoping to enter new fields such as servers. After carefully evaluating the pros and cons of the SPARC architecture and the ARM architecture, Feiteng decisively gave up SPARC, took the authorization of the ARMv8 instruction set architecture, and comprehensively turned to the domestic CPU industry for the wide application of software manufacturers and the sustainable development of the domestic CPU industry. ARM camp. Two years later, the FT-1500A based on the Arm architecture came out. Since then, Feiteng’s development has opened a new chapter.
Mr. Dou used one word to evaluate the current Feiteng CPU chips, that is, “basically available”. He believes that the gap between Feiteng and foreign companies is still huge. To become a world-class chip company, Feiteng and its partners are still needed. long-term efforts to achieve. Specifically, Mr. Dou put forward two points, one is to insist on independent innovation of core technologies, and the other is to open up the industrial ecology. These two points are also the development concepts summed up by Feiteng after 20 years of continuous accumulation.
He pointed out: “These two points are summed up through our 20 years of continuous accumulation and attempts. During the 20 years of development, we have gone through many detours in the CPU architecture and external cooperation, and have a deep understanding of the industry. How important the open union of the ecology is to the development of CPU companies.”
To create a new era of computing in the future, and to be a climber in the new era, Feiteng disclosed a development plan of 15 billion yuan for the next five years.
After 5 years of rapid development, Feiteng’s products have blossomed one after another, the entire sales volume has exceeded 200,000 pieces, and the team has grown to 500 people.
“At present, our new 4-core CPU has achieved mass production, and the entire stock is close to one million pieces; the multi-channel server chip samples have also entered the testing stage. In terms of ecological construction, Feiteng’s partners have increased significantly, mainstream OEM manufacturers, ODM manufacturers, embedded manufacturers, network communication and security manufacturers, and storage manufacturers have all joined the Feiteng camp.” Mr. Dou introduced: “In terms of the entire map, we have also completed the initial construction of ecological maps in multiple directions, including cloud and Edge full-stack solutions and ecological maps, terminals, embedded and other fields.”
In Mr. Dou’s view, 2019 and the future are unprecedented major opportunities for the development of the IT industry. Feiteng must seize the opportunity to achieve rapid development, enter the mass market from the niche market, and move towards the public market in the future.
In view of this, Feiteng is expected to invest more than 15 billion yuan in new product research and development, ecological construction and regional customer protection in the next five years. The goal is to achieve annual revenue of more than 10 billion yuan by 2024, and the team will expand to more than 3,000 people.
Although my country’s CPU products and ecology still need to be improved, it is gratifying that there have been companies in my country who have been working silently in this field for many years, and have achieved good results. Feiteng adheres to the development concept of “independent innovation of core technologies and open industrial ecology”, which has opened up a fertile ground for the development of domestic CPUs. As Mr. Dou said: “No matter how high the mountain is, you can always reach the top when you climb up. No matter how long the road is, you will definitely reach it if you go down.”
